How To Calculate The Cost
It is sometimes very difficult to know the accurate cost of a product because the coverage rates vary so much. When you understand the difference between the upfront cost and the actual cost per square metre of application of a coating it quickly becomes apparent what the true cost of the product is.
To illustrate. A popular waterborne coating used on timber flooring has an average cost of $200 for a 5 L container. It's coverage rate is 10 m² per litre which means that the cost of coating per square metre is four dollars. Three coats, including a primer are required which means that the coating finished cost is $11 per square metre. Primers being slightly less costly.
In contrast, when you use Osmo Polyx coating, the average cost per square metre is $2.75-$3.00 per square metre per coat which means that the finished product is just $5.50- $6 per square metre because the high quality products within Osmo mean that just a two coat system is required.
As this example illustrates, Osmo can work out in the final analysis at less than 50% of the finish cost of using alternatives.
